Open Position: Executive Director

Habitat for Humanity – Grand County, located in Granby Colorado announces the open position of Executive Director. HFH-GC solicits applicants for the position as described below.

The Executive Director provides leadership for Habitat for Humanity of Grand County (HFH-GC), an affiliate of HfH International and HfH Colorado, and is responsible for the routine management of the organization. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and represents the Board to ensure that Board policies and goals are correctly implemented. The Executive Director is a non-voting member of the Board and ad hoc member of all committees of the Board.

The primary focus of the Executive Director is to develop, organize, coordinate, and oversee the administrative, construction and fundraising functions of the affiliate. The Executive Director serves as the primary communication link for the affiliate and works with the Board in areas of budgeting and long range planning to ensure the on-going success of the mission of HFH-GC.

The duties of the Executive Director include; (1) coordinating the activities of the operating committees; (2) representing the affiliate in the community; (3) overseeing the building projects of the affiliate; (4) supervising the administrative functions of the affiliate; (5) performing such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the President of the Board, or the Board (6) Implement Board policies guided by the Christian ethics on which Habitat is based, (7) Administer the day-to-day, operational, financial, and business affairs of the affiliate; (8) Manage the family selection process, creation of mortgage documents and the closing process for the sale of a Habitat house to a partner family in compliance with federal regulations; (9) Oversee the monthly mortgage collections and escrow disbursements and yearly escrow analysis; (10) Write grant applications and maintain donor files; (11) Plan and oversee fundraising and public relations programs, (12) Communicate regularly with Habitat partner families and maintain positive working relationships with the families; and (13) Oversee and evaluate the work of the Bookkeeper and the Construction Supervisor.

The Executive Director must have a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, demonstrated organizational skills, and written and oral communication skills. Successful experience working with volunteers and non-profit organizations is preferred. The Executive Director must be self-directed, detail oriented and able to respond to changing needs and requirements. The Executive Director must be able to take charge and find solutions to problems. Familiarity with the mission of Habitat for Humanity, knowledge of mortgage documents, regulations and procedures, IRS regulations, and audit procedures are necessary.

The Executive Director must have demonstrated computer skills and the ability to quickly master software products needed to manage Habitat business needs. The Executive Director uses Microsoft Office, Quick Books, Keystone and Adobe Acrobat Professional software on a daily basis. The position also requires use of eTapestry donor software, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop Elements.

Previous experience with non-profits, successful experience in fundraising, and experience with Microsoft Project and Adobe Illustrator would be a plus.

Salary and Benefits:
The position of Executive Director is currently a part-time position (maximum of 30 hours per week). At this time the position is an hourly position with no benefits and no paid holidays or vacations. Compensation is commensurate with experience and education.
